“Widespread Refuge”. Reception practices and networks
29 January 2024

The research project, financed by the Migrantes Foundation and in collaboration with the Migrant Pastoral Office of Turin, aims to examine, 15 years after its launch, the Rifugio Diffuso project – Welcoming a refugee into the family, a reception project for protection holders international and residence permits inserted within family units (single people, couples, families) in the area of the Metropolitan City of Turin, who voluntarily apply for the hospitality experience.
To date, the project is promoted by the Foreigners Office of the City of Turin in collaboration with the Migrant Pastoral Office of Turin and CISV Turin and is part of the SAI – Reception and Integration System.
The research aims to examine the project from different and integrated points of view, bringing attention not only to the beneficiaries and their path, but also to the creation of “solidarity networks” and therefore also focusing on the families involved, the communities, services and territories of reference. Furthermore, it is intended to propose the adoption of a not strictly evaluative approach, but rather an overall analytical one, which allows the emergence of broader reflections on the distinctive elements of the project, also to highlight aspects of replicability and possible margins of improvement.
