Web 2.0: Generation 2.0 – Natives and Migrants Inside and Outside the Network.
28 June 2010

This project aims to investigate the relationship between young people, both Italian and foreign, and social networks in Italy today. The digital world is increasingly becoming the reference point for the youth, whether Italian or foreign. The use of social networks, in particular, allows second-generation youth to diversify their communication strategies and find new channels to express their voices, share experiences and emotions, exchange advice and opinions, and put forward proposals and claims. The research takes an individual, non-organized group, and organized group perspective—always starting from the individual’s action—in the virtual context. Different ways of using social networks by second-generation youth will be observed, considering four dimensions: identity, socialization, network creation, and processes of political participation. The research is carried out with the support of the CRT Foundation and the Giovanni Goria Foundation.
