Treatment of third country nationals at the EU’s external borders”(FRA Project)

The project, funded by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights and coordinated by ICMPD, focuses on the study of maritime borders (in Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Italy, and Spain), land borders (in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, and Spain), and air borders (in France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom). The project will be conducted through field research for all three types of borders considered, interviews with third countries, authorities of European and non-European countries, as well as fishermen and ship captains. Focus groups with stakeholders will also be organized. At the end of the research, the results will be discussed with national authorities. Part of the research will also be dedicated to analyzing issues related to human rights explored during maritime reconnaissance, rescue, and interception operations.
