The Paths to Health
3 May 2013

An investigation on the right to health, demand, access, and utilization of health services by migrants in Turin. The research, conducted by LDF (Laboratory of Fundamental Rights) in collaboration with FIERI (International and European Forum for Research on Immigration), starts from the legal premises of the right to health as a fundamental right. Using anthropological and sociological methodologies, the study analyzed the demand, access, and utilization of health services by foreign-born citizens residing in Turin, based on the four parameters: availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of health services. The research explored the use of services or methods of health protection parallel to the public and formal system, aiming to capture and analyze the methods and reasons for accessing “alternative” institutions and services provided by them.
