Partnership FIERI & MiDiS
In 2026, FIERI entered into a four-year cooperation agreement with MiDiS, the Interdepartmental Centre for Migration, Diversity and Sustainable development of the University of Eastern Piedmont.
MiDiS carries out research and training activities on the social, economic, political, cultural, demographic, environmental, technological transformations of contemporary societies connected to human mobility, both international and internal, as well as to cultural diversity. The partnership is supported financially by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation.
In particular, the activities of FIERI and the MiDiS Centre focus on pursuing the following objectives:
1. strengthening integration and complementarity between the two research centres, with the aim of becoming the leading hub in Piedmont for research and activities in these areas;
2. strengthening the training offer on migration and systemic change for students and practitioners, and connecting it with nationally and internationally relevant research on these issues;
3. promoting the two research centres at the national and international levels;
4. strengthening fundraising activities to support the sustainability of both centre and, more broadly, to attract resources to the Piedmont region;
5. strengthening the internationalisation of the two centres and their partnership;
6. consolidating and institutionalising collaborations with local stakeholders (local communities, civil society organisations, public decision-makers, and businesses).
