NAVIGATING RETURNS: West African Experiences of Difficult Homecoming (NADIHO)
14 March 2024

The project, funded by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under the PRIN 2022 call for Proposals of National Interest, aims to investigate how the modes and experiences of migrant return (voluntary and involuntary) to their countries of origin influence their subsequent trajectories and long-term conditions. Through an interdisciplinary, multisite, and participatory approach, case studies will be conducted in West Africa (Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Senegal, Togo) and Italy. FIERI’s role will involve coordinating a participatory workshop with activists and experts with a migrant background on return practices and the effects of policies, with the objective of generating recommendations for innovative approaches in this field.
