African and European scholars and experts have been working together for over two years to devise alternative migration policies that unite rather than divide the two continents.
This is the Progressive Migration Group (PMG), long coordinated by Anna Terrón i Cusí, who has recently been succeeded by Antonio Vitorino, Director General of the International Organization for Migration from 2018 to 2023.
After a series of meetings in African capitals, on September 24 and 25, the members of the PMG, including the director of FIERI, met in Rome with representatives of Italian civil society and politics. On that occasion, the latest three policy briefs produced by members of the Group were presented, dedicated to relations between the African Union and the European Union on migration, with particular regard to return policies.
The policy briefs can be found at this link.
